Goode (7)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Tsuru No Sugomori (9)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Gavotte en rondeaux (10)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Tchakrulo (12)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Melancholy Blues (14)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Rite of Spring (16)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Fifth Symphony (18)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><b>Wedding Song (23)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">, and <\/span><b>Dark Was the Night (26)<\/b><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This week\u2019s readings on digitization reminded me that preservation is never neutral. It reflects power, privilege, and what societies deem \u201cworth remembering.\u201d As <span class=\"s2\"><b>Smith Rumsey (1999)<\/b><\/span> explains, enthusiasm for technology often blinds us to the politics of what gets converted or forgotten. Her later reflection that we must ask <i>\u201cwhat can we afford to lose?\u201d<\/i> reframed my view of curation. Therefore, I wanted to balance canonical works (Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky) with culturally rooted folk pieces (<i>Tchakrulo<\/i>, <i>Wedding Song<\/i>, <i>Tsuru No Sugomori<\/i>) to amplify underrepresented voices. Pieces such as <i>Dark Was the Night<\/i> and <i>Melancholy Blues<\/i> showcase emotion and faith beyond language, while <i>Johnny B. Goode<\/i> represents creativity and technological modernity.
