{"id":25,"date":"2012-03-01T13:22:55","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T20:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ices\/?p=25"},"modified":"2012-03-08T01:33:11","modified_gmt":"2012-03-08T08:33:11","slug":"bc-teachers-vote-yes-to-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/ices\/2012\/03\/01\/bc-teachers-vote-yes-to-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"BC Teachers Vote Yes to Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With overwhelming support, BC Teachers approved a motion to strike.\u00a0 The vote was cast &#8220;to resist the unjust actions of the provincial government in yet again moving to impose a contract on the province\u2019s 41,000 public school teachers.\u00a0 A total of 27,946 teachers voted yes in a province-wide vote conducted February 28 and 29, 2012.\u00a0 In all, 32,209 teachers cast ballots, of whom 87% voted yes.&#8221;\u00a0 See the <a href=\"http:\/\/bctf.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">BCTF for updates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The full scale strike, <a href=\"http:\/\/bctf.ca\/uploadedFiles\/Public\/BargainingContracts\/2012-02-28-InterimOrder.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">limited to 3 days by the BC Labour Review Board<\/a>, begins on Monday morning (6 March).
