{"id":2634,"date":"2024-03-11T12:51:22","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T20:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/iiqbal\/?p=2634"},"modified":"2024-03-11T13:06:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T21:06:06","slug":"edcc-2024-online-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/iiqbal\/2024\/03\/11\/edcc-2024-online-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"EDCC 2024 Online Conference (Day 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some brief notes on my learning and main take-aways from the <a href=\"https:\/\/edcc-cdpc.ca\/\">Educational Development Community in Canada<\/a> Conference (February 28 and 29, 2024).<\/p>\n<h2>DAY 1<\/h2>\n<h3>When UDL Meets EDI: The role of educational developers in bottom-up implementation in higher education<\/h3>\n<p>What stood out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitators did an access check<\/li>\n<li>Facilitators modelled UDL in many ways and provided options to the breakout rooms and for participation overall<\/li>\n<li>Look into: Access, Build, Internalize &#8211; don&#8217;t really get this (part of CAST)<\/li>\n<li>They shared a helpful model they use for the Course Design Certificate. (I have discussed this with Sue and we will be meeting with Mike to explore further)<\/li>\n<li>Resource shared: https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/skills21\/facilitator-guide\/reflect\/inclusive-workshop-toolkit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Facilitators: Michal Kasprzak, Samantha Chang, Jasjit Sangha<\/p>\n<h3>Exploring Safe Spaces in Educational Development<\/h3>\n<p>What stood out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The facilitator gave us 5 minutes of totally unstructured time at the beginning of the session.
