Important Notes for InSEA 2019 Delegates on Friday, July 12, 2019

Session Changes, Room Corrections and Cancellations for Friday, July 12th

The afternoon sessions scheduled in SS 207 have been moved to SS 305.

There are changes that impact three sessions, in addition to two cancellations.  In the event that there may be room changes in the Swing Space, we will post signs for your ease.  Please take a moment to review and adjust your schedule accordingly today:

  • Knit, Spin; Build, Tangle with Pilar Soto Sánchez, María-Isabel Moreno-Montoro, Maria Martinez Morales, Estrella Soto Moreno, will be offered at 9:40-10:40 on Friday, July 12th in the Audain Art Centre, on the 3rd Floor.
  • Trudy-Ann Barnett will offer her Single Paper presentation: Art Making as Place Making? in Session R Room SS 207 on Friday, July 12th at 4:00 in a new session pairing with Boyd White, who is presenting a Single Paper on In Praise of Uncertainty, Ambiguity and Wonder.
  • Experimental Geometries, Large-scale Embodied Collaboration and Design: An Experiential Math/Art Maker Workshop with Susan Gerofsky will now be offered in the Audain Art Centre 1st Floor Lobby.
  • The Making Workshop: Visual Storytelling: An Arts-based Method to Explore How Perceptions of Aging Impact Seniors’ Health & Well-being, is cancelled at 9:30 in the Audain Art Centre (ACC) on the third floor.
  • The second Single Paper session: An Art Museum and Place-Making: Engaging with Relational Potential, is cancelled in the MOA LL on Friday, July 12, 2019 2:40-3:40; the other Single Paper presentation: Conversing Images: Questioning Affect, Potential and Virtuality in Student Bodies will proceed as scheduled.

 

The Next Two Days at the InSEA 2019 World Congress and the Closing Ceremony

There are many exciting workshops to attend on Friday.  In addition, there is the InSEA General Assembly & Ziegfeld Lecture at 11:00am in the Frederick Wood Theatre.  A quick note: sessions offered at the Museum of Anthropology and in the Ongoing Making Workshop spaces conclude on Friday.

Please take a moment to visit the Audain Art Centre 3rd Floor and check out both the making and Exhibitor booths.

 

InSEA 2019 Banquet and Dance

We are looking forward to the InSEA Banquet and Dance this evening, Friday, July 12th at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, Jack Pool Hall on the UBC Campus beside The Nest (6163 University Blvd, Vancouver). The evening events will begin at 6:00pm.

On Saturday: at 8:30am and 9:40am, there are sessions with varied and noteworthy presentations. We hope that you enjoy these Sessions in addition to the Keynote offered by Shawn Hunt and of course the wonderful Closing Ceremony that we have planned for you.

InSEA Regional Meetings on Saturday, July 13th at 9:40am

Please consider attending your InSEA Members Regional meeting.  This is a way to become involved in InSEA and to foster new friendships and build upon existing ones.

  • SS 109 Asian members regional meeting with InSEA World Councilors
  • SS 105 South-East Asian members regional meeting with InSEA World Councilors
  • SS 107 North American members regional meeting with InSEA World Councilors
  • SS 305 Latin American members regional meeting with InSEA World Councilors

InSEA 2019 Congress Desk

If your stay extends past this Saturday, take time to talk to the volunteers at the InSEA 2019 Congress Desk and Making Spaces – as well as delegates who are familiar with the Lower Mainland about possible adventures in Vancouver and other places in the province.

We will reconcile the delegate registration list and email everyone a certificate of participation that can be completed by each delegate in the next few days.

Found Items

If you are looking for a jacket, wrist watch and/or shawl – please let us know at the InSEA 2019 Congress Desk.  If we do not hear back from you by Saturday evening, we will turn these items over to the UBC Lost and Found Desk.

Harbour Boat Cruise on Saturday, July 13, 2019 (after dinner), ticketed event

  • First, please gather for the Harbour Boat Cruise on Saturday, July 13th in front of the Ponderosa at 6:45pm. Buses will leave at 7:00pm from Ponderosa Commons Oak House, 6445 University Blvd.  There will be signs and volunteers to indicate where.
  • Next, for those who have placed their name on the waitlist, please visit a volunteer at the InSEA 2019 Congress Desk during the day on Friday. 1st Floor Lobby of the Audain Art Centre (ACC).
  • Finally, the Harbour Boat Cruise will end at 10:00pm, at which time the buses will return you to UBC.
