Welcome to “Intervention Strategy – Literature, Language and “Race”” ; Our English 470 group conference page!

English 470: Our Home and Native Land has provided information on Canadian literature and  nation building. In this course, students examined the influence of first nations people on canadian culture and the effects of canadian culture on first nations people. The several articles and books read in this course, are engaging and have provided insight and fascinating information on colonization narratives. In this conference, our group  will focus on the topic of “Language and Language rights” in canada. As Siemerling has highlighted the importance of creating an open dialogue about cross-linguistic issues in Canada, we hope to discuss issues such as diasporas, Black Canadian writing, problems with linguistic borders, the issues of the nation state, and the complications in Canadian publishing (the French/English language funding and publishing issue). We hope this topic sparks some engaging dialogue!
