The ethical issue in question…

Primark garments- the destination of every fashionistas in London with a tight budget. The fact that they could offer so much grandeur with such a cheap price got the whole fashion industry stirred up, and by 2009, it eclipsed Marks and Spencer, taking £1 out of every £10 spent on clothing in the UK.

So what is the secret of this “high on style, low on price” motto? No it is not just production in third-world countries… it is production in third world countries using the future of our world, crammed in a tiny attic in a humid south-asian climate, sewing under a dim light. A lunch break seems to be too much of a luxury- let alone an elementary school education.

Child labour scandal seems to be a major ongoing issue in the field of business ethics. The fact that the firms want to do “whatever it takes” to grab the market seems to be a poor example of eco-leadership. In today’s world, where the developed countries are ever so conscious about human rights, the developing countries are still exploited by the firms both local and international to maximize their profits.
