Description<\/em>: Digital interactive books support individual readers\u2019 text comprehension and engage struggling readers (Hutchison et al). \u00a0They allow students to read text with audio support, word-by-word tracking, and picture animation. \u00a0Additionally, students can find definitions and pronunciations of words on screen as well as word-by-word highlighting. \u00a0Some books allow students to record and replay their own voice reading the text, while others facilitate note taking during reading. \u00a0Digital books permit students to physically interact and manipulate texts in order to meet their needs – making the reading experience individualized, interactive and engaging (Larson, 2010) \u00a0Additionally, several top K-12 publishers have now created e-textbooks (McGraw-Hill Ryerson, Nelson Education, Oxford University Press, Pearson Education and Solaro have created Multi-Touch textbooks available from the iBookstore.) for students to download. \u00a0Textbooks feature interactive diagrams, photos and videos to enhance student comprehension and engagement.<\/p>\n
