The Business Behind our Health

Posted by in Uncategorized

If public companies must disclose all information, why wouldn’t something as public as health care be upheld to the same standards? The connection between business and health care is a puzzling one; especially considering everyone is a very dependent consumer. We are left at the mercy of our health care professions, hoping that they uphold to the highest quality of care. It seems like it has taken far to long for the hard numbers to be released in the United States disclosing all payments by pharmaceutical companies to health care professionals. Knowing this information has the power to change a patient’s comfort level and opinion regarding their doctor’s decisions. That seems like necessary information considering our bodies are our most important investment.   An automatic bias is assumed for financial reasons, something that needs to be considered in deciding what product is right for each individual person. No one would invest in a company with no accountability. Therefore, why should any consumer be left uninformed about the interactions of the health care professions they trust to give them the best pharmaceutical options for their personal needs?
