Our humble beginnings.

This campus is big and it’s brilliant and it’s dark and it’s gloomy and it’s everything in between. It’s often overwhelming. You can go through 5 years here, saturating yourself with every opportunity that has come your way, and still not feel like you’ve scratched the surface of all the cool that is happening. There’s lot’s of fantastic sites that aggregate what’s happening, and they do their best to promote events, but what I’ve been craving is someone that picks the best of the best from around campus. What I’ve always been looking for is something, or someone, that curates that which is awesome. And so was born this site that aims to do just that.

While the name of this blog was originally inspired by a promotional campaign by the SLC (I have had enough of your claims of insipid, uncritical boosterism), it became entirely too perfect when the connection to a local favourite publication, VancouverIsAwesome, finally clicked (It took slightly longer then one would have imagined to do so). So in hommage to their work, a similar site we hope to create- one that curates the best of campus events, projects, and people. It’s about the culture of UBC, the things that make us special, and, more importantly, the people who do so.

We can’t promise this will work but let’s go on an adventure, UBC.
