Posture<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Speech production involves motor control of various body parts, and posture plays a fundamental role as the reference frame for planning movement. This means that speech movements, in practice, often deviate from theoretical predictions for their articulatory mechanisms. Our lab investigates the fundamental role of posture as a substrate for speech production. This research addresses questions such as how speech postures coarticulate with both transient movements and other postures (such as facial expression), and how structures such as the lips, tongue, soft palate, and larynx move during or between utterances.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
