The First Peoples Writing Blog encourages submissions from a broad range of sources, including essays, reviews, reflections, poetry, and other forms of multi-media outlets. As a public space, we strive to advocate respectful discussion and knowledge sharing, accountability, integrity, humility, reciprocity and truth sharing. Topics surrounding Indigenous studies must be approached in a respectable manor. First Peoples Writing recognizes that the diverse area of Indigenous studies includes many backgrounds, opinions, languages and histories. Overtly racist, offensive and destructive language and content will be removed from any commentary and will not be accepted as a submission. The First Peoples Writing Blog team respects and values all backgrounds, including race, gender, age and ability.

Showcasing the written and creative works by Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in the First Nation Studies Program at the University of British Columbia. The title xʷnaʔələmxʷ sχəχi:ls (First Peoples Writing) is our name gifted to us by our host nation Musqueam.
