Welcome to your unit working with Scratch!
Throughout this unit you will be focusing on your main learning goal of learning and applying basic object-oriented programming skills to designing simple games by using block-based programming tools.
By the end of this unit you will be able to answer the questions:
- What can we learn about computer programming from block-based languages?
- What are the different aspects that go into creating an online game?
You will know:
- How to create a program/game efficiently.
- How a block-based programming language relates to a text-based programming language
You will be able to:
- Create a video game that your peers will want to play using Scratch.
- Create a short animation using Scratch.
The essential question that you will want to consider as you are progressing through this unit is:
- What computer programming functions do I need to know in order to effectively make a video game?
If you feel comfortable with that, head over to the Week 1 page to get started on your first tutorial! If you still have some questions, please ask or email Mr. Jamieson.
