Scratch Video Game<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-249 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-33-26-300x213.png\" alt=\"2016-11-06_13-33-26\" width=\"401\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-33-26-300x213.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-33-26.png 710w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><u>GAME:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After watching the videos for Week 1 on the Resources Page, you are ready to start on your very first video game!\u00a0 Using Scratch, create a short single or multiplayer game that utilizes the elements of a video game discussed below.\u00a0 Your game can include multi-levels or be a single level.\u00a0 Ensure you have an objective that the players are working towards achieving.<\/p>\n<p>Those elements include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating Characters<\/li>\n<li>Player Movement<\/li>\n<li>Building a Map<\/li>\n<li>Collision Detection<\/li>\n<li>Computer Controlled objects and characters<\/li>\n<li>Using Variables to store numbers\/information<\/li>\n<li>Ending the game (winning or losing)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You decide how you want your game to work and what the overall objective is.\u00a0 I highly encourage you to go beyond the basics that we have learned and include some of your own elements into your game.\u00a0 Challenge yourself to find new and interesting aspects to include.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-245 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_9-36-32-300x277.png\" alt=\"2016-11-06_9-36-32\" width=\"178\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_9-36-32-300x277.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_9-36-32.png 442w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 178px) 100vw, 178px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you have completed your game, make sure that you \u201cShare\u201d it so that it can be viewed and played by other people!\u00a0 After you share it, you will see a small area where you can write out the instructions for how to play your game and an area for any development notes about your game.\u00a0 You should fill in both those squares.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>DOCUMENTATION:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to your video game, you will need to provide written documentation that explains the various aspects of your game and how it works.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2 &#8211; 3 paragraph response, outline the different functions that you have used in your game for each character.\u00a0 You should explain how the various blocks you have used, fit together in order to make your game playable.\u00a0 This will help to ensure that you have a full understanding of the mechanics and programming concepts that have gone into your game.<\/p>\n<p>You should also explain how to play your game, who your intended audience is, and what you learned about computer programming from working on this project.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SUBMISSION:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will need to submit a working link to your Scratch project and the documentation into the your Edmodo folder.<\/p>\n<p>RUBRIC &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/Scratch-Basic-Game-1-ETEC-Rubric.pdf\">Scratch Video Game Rubric<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Assignment 2 &#8211; Three Minute Disney Movie<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-252 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-58-35-300x281.png\" alt=\"2016-11-06_13-58-35\" width=\"375\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-58-35-300x281.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/jamiesonlmsmoduleict10\/files\/2016\/09\/2016-11-06_13-58-35.png 709w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><u>MOVIE:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After watching the videos from Week 2, you are ready to start on your second Scratch project.\u00a0 For this, you will be creating a three minute Disney movie.\u00a0 Choose your favorite Disney movie, and condense the story down to three minutes.\u00a0 This movie should include multiple characters and a few different backgrounds that are included.\u00a0 Your scene must have dialog and sounds included in it.\u00a0 As it is a movie, your animation must be able to play without any user input other than clicking the start button (Green flag in Scratch).<\/p>\n<p>This project will allow you to showcase the various Scratch skills that you have been working on while also challenging you to create something using timings and animations.\u00a0 Remember to include the following items in your movie:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 2 characters<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 3 different backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Must be 3 minutes long (plus or minus 15 seconds).<\/li>\n<li>Must include use of dialog (text on screen) and sounds.<\/li>\n<li>Characters must be animated so that they move freely without user input.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Start this project off by picking your Disney movie to recreate.\u00a0 You should focus on the main parts of the movie that you would like to capture in your 3-minute version.\u00a0 It is highly recommended that you write out a short script that will focus on the dialog, actions, and sounds that you want to include in your movie, though you do not need to submit this.\u00a0 Once you have your movie planned out, find the graphics that you want to use, and start building your animation in Scratch.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>DOCUMENTATION:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to your movie, you will need to provide written documentation that explains the various functions used to create the animation for your movie.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2 &#8211;
