Process of Planning
My inquiry question and observations are something I really value! As a teacher candidate, it is important to gain and absorb all the knowledge I can while I’m still completing the program. Everyday and every single observation has been a learning experience for me, which I can hopefully incorporate into my own practice one day. By creating my own detailed lesson plans for each activity, I have been able to understand the importance of valuing every aspect from a teacher and student perspective. Through observation, I have been able to distinguish the importance of my inquiry. My inquiry question on the physical environment and its effects on student behavior has been fundamental when creating daily lesson plans. As a teacher candidate (who is still working on classroom management skills), I feel that my inquiry forces me to provide a more detailed outline on “where the students will be sitting?”, “what the students will be doing?”, “what will the transition from the carpet to the desks look like?” and “how long will these transitions take?” However, I still struggle and fear incorporating certain strategies that may disrupt the classroom management. I hope to find more effective strategies to use and become comfortable implementing them in the future!
