Welcome to my GEOB 370 blog detailing my research project, “Determining a Least-Cost Bus Route from Surrey to UBC”. My name is Jasmin Senghera and I am a 4th year environmental sciences student specializing in Land, Air, and Water at UBC. As a resident of Surrey and former commuter from Surrey to UBC, I have had my fair share of transit tribulations. Often in my commute, I was required to take multiple buses alongside the SkyTrain (especially at non-peak times). Wait times were anywhere from 20-40 minutes and even longer when particular buses didn’t show up. Thus, I felt the need to explore this issue for my GIS project not only for myself but for other fellow Surrey to UBC commuters.
