Professional Responsibilities

  • Created lessons for English 10, 11, 12, Literature 12, and Social Studies 8.
  • Developed a nine-week novel study unit for English 11, as well as a six-week media studies unit for English 12.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program in English and Social Studies. Collaborated with the English department to create IB units for upcoming year.
  • Used formative and summative assessment strategies that included created and MYP rubrics.
  • Adapted instruction, assignments, and assessments for students with individualized education plans. Partnered with Special Education Assistants to ensure that students understood assignments and tasks, and that they had the necessary resources to work in the Learning Resource Centre.
  • Led Parent-Teacher interview conferences, updated parents on their child’s progress in the class.
  • Attended Professional Development conferences with school staff.
  • Sought out and quickly implemented feedback from school advisors during lesson observations.

Interactions with Staff Members

  • Networked and observed other teachers in the English and Socials department, as well as in other subjects in the school.
