Link #7 – Task 7: Mode-Bending

Angela’s Task 7 transforms the original “What’s in Your Bag” activity into a TikTok-style piece that blends video, sound, and background audio. Her use of multiple layers creates a fast-paced and visually engaging format. My Task 7 takes a different approach by relying only on sound. Instead of visuals, I focused on creating meaning solely through audio cues and pacing. Both posts rework the assignment, but they differ in how many modes they bring into the redesign and how the viewer experiences the final piece.
Reflection
I chose Angela’s post because it highlights how combining video and audio can create a highly dynamic and recognizable format. Her use of layered media increases the energy of the piece and mirrors the kind of multimodal content people are used to seeing on social platforms. In contrast, my sound-only version feels quieter and more minimal, which changes how the listener constructs meaning. Comparing the two helps me see how different combinations of modes shape attention and interpretation. Angela’s piece shows the impact of multimodal layering, while mine reveals the constraints and possibilities of relying on a single sensory mode.
