About Jenna

I graduated from the University of Alberta in June 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Genetics. I completed an Honors Thesis at the Centre for Prions and Protein Folding Diseases under the supervision of Dr. Debbie Mckenzie and Dr. Allen Herbst.

I am originally from Grande Prairie, AB. After completing my degree, with a strong focus in Human Genetics and Oncology, I realized I lacked knowledge in regards to my Indigenous heritage. My mother is from Horse Lake First Nations, and my father is of settler origin from England and Ireland. I hope that once I learn more about the rich and complex history, culture, and traditions of the Indigenous peoples of Canada, I can one day help Indigenous peoples become more involved in STEM-related programs.
