Two-Point Perspective Futuristic City Drawing

Introduction:

The purpose of this project is to help students become aware of and understand the complexity of the developmental issues of city, as sustainable transportation, housing crisis, green environment, growing gulf between rich and poor, rising population, migration and refugees. Students explore factors that will influence the future needs of their city, then create art of an environmentally sound city of the future.

Unit Objective:

This lesson teaches students how to draw futuristic city by using one-point or two-point perspective to create the illusion of space on a two dimensional surface.

  • This project will expose ss to linear perspective, specifically one point and two point perspective.
  • It will also expose ss to acrylic/watercolor glazing skill.
  • Students research on living city and plan the future city as they learn about the effects of population trends and ecological practices on life in the future.

Scope & sequence:

Students will be beginning with the concept of futurism, perspective and its application in art as it relating to line, form, space, color, composition, and overlapping. They will mainly be pencil and acrylic in this unit, but will have a chance to explore mix media techniques with color pencil, collage and acrylic glazing as well.
