BMW i Window Transforms NY Traffic into its New Hybrid and All-Electric Concept Vehicles

BMW’s i Window was a promotional campaign designed to attract attention and spur interest regarding their upcoming BMW i vehicles. These include the BMW i3, a totally all-electric vehicle which generates 0 local emissions and can be drive for up to 160 km on a single charge, and BMW i8, the self-proclaimed “most progressive sports car” is a hybrid that when needed, can utilize 100% electricity to drive up to 35 km.

This window, while a quirky and interesting marketing strategy is also very thought provoking as the underlying message behind the window transforming traffic into these concept cars is that this is a very real possibility in the future, not just a publicity stunt. As larger car manufacturers focus on electric vehicles, this can encourage cities and municipalities to make the changes necessary for all-electric vehicles to become more mainstream (charging station etc..).

BMW also mentions the amount of carbon dioxide emissions (1 324 919 tons annually) we can avoid by switching to electric vehicles (based on the number of cars transformed in the window during the week)as well as the sheer amount people could save on gasoline ($493 507 216).
