On April 1st, April Fool’s Day this year, many companies once again competed with one another in hopes of creating the most legendary prank. Google has won once again, by teaming with NASCAR to create the ultimate Google Racing. The autonomous race car they created definitely seemed very authentic. These creative media stunts represents Google’s Brand Personality. Which is the sum total of all the attributes of a brand, and the emotions it inspires in consumer minds. Google is often described as “quirky” and “fun-loving”. These two stunts are definitely not short of fun-loving creative madness. Although these media stunts do not exactly serve a purpose in terms of marketing services or products to consumers, I think this “competition” gives corporate giants a chance to earn bragging rights for creativity and originality, and to show off their status.
