The Hershey Company announced their plan on paving path into becoming a healthier brand. Consumer’s concern on health has increased and The Hershey Co has realized how consumer’s demanded less processed foods. This is why Hershey decided to keep its ingredient list just like its famous chocolates, being short and sweet.

The Hershey Co’s biggest change started by changing from artificial vanilla flavor to real vanilla flavor, this brings in the company’s major point of difference, compared to other brands. Hershey is one step less of becoming healthier, this being said, it shows the company a major point of difference against its competition. Due to this major change Hershey, is now responsible of changing and restocking all their shelves, which will cause major costs to the company, but will keep it’s costumers loyal.

Due to these major changes customers will now see the natural flavors that make Hershey a better option compared to the other chocolates in the market. Hershey changed the vanillin (artificial vanilla), to real vanilla, it removed the sugar in the milk of the chocolates and also removed PGPR which helps chocolates flow better in the manufacturer plant.

Apart from these major changes, other changes that Hershey is offering are the change of marketing strategies, as the company will now apply Smart Labels to all their packaging. The smart labels provide information on nutritional facts, ingredients and allergens; as well as using natural flavors. By 2016 Hershey announced they will source 50% cocoa from certified sustainable sources instead of the 30% it used before. In my opinion all the changes Hershey is providing will help improves the sales for the company future years, they are changing marketing and ingredients that will convince their costumers to stay loyal to the company. Hershey is listening to the customer’s opinion and is always adapting to grant the best service possible.
