Hello world! My name is Julian and I am a fourth year student at studying Sociology. This will hopefully be my last year at UBC before I move on to pursue a Bachelors of Recreation Management.
What is Recreation Management you might ask? Well, it’s a degree program that gets people ready to develop and plan various programs in a recreation setting such as community centers. I have been part of youth programs since I can remember and have been working at camps and community centers for the last few years. At first it was just a part time job/summer job for me, but it slowly developed into a career path. Like most university students, I came in not really knowing what to do after graduation and I feel very blessed to have found something I am passionate in. Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if my interests change a few years down the road.
Beyond my work and studies, I enjoy eating good food (who doesn’t), travelling, and have been doing martial arts since I was six. I find it helpful to stay active during my studies as an outlet to relieve stress and clear my mind from time to time.
I’m looking forward to taking this course as i feel it will help me develop skills I will need in the professional world. Just knowing how to write a proper and professional email is a skill that everyone should have some knowledge of and is integral in a professional setting. I hope this course can help me expand on my current knowledge of professional writing and set me up for future success.
