Marketing assignment 3: Is the extre large too large to buy for Tim Hortons

When I was looking through marketing classmates’ blog posts trying to find inspirations, Song xiaoou’s ” Do we really need that much caffeine in life” coming into my mind.(LINK: https://blogs.ubc.ca/christinaxos/2012/01/16/marketing-assignment-1-do-we-really-need-that-much-caffeine-in-life/)

Just few days ago, Tim Horton’s decided to rename its cups on size down to replace the old cupe— which means a “Small” will now be an “Extra Small” and a “Large” will now be a “Medium”. All of these changes are made to bring out the new 24 oz Extra Large. How large is a 24 oz large? Yes, it is amazing 710 mL, which is lager than two bottle of beers! Actually, i pretty agree with Song xiaoou’s opinion, the extra large really is too large to buy.

Nowadays, the new size already coming, however, it seems not popular, whcih means it dose not appear to its customers. The biggest problem is that it is really too much. I just tried it last week. From my experience, that is a kind of waste, at least for me, i can not finish it by myself. Therefore ,absolutely, i will not buy the extre large in the following days. My friends and classmates also find the same problem, as we can not finish it, why we need to spend more money to buy such a big size!

Another problem is the inconvenient size. When i brought it during moving, the feeling is so uncomfortable, it is too heavy and big. I believe that no body like the extre lager bottle.

A recent research also showed that  53.75% of the participants claimed that they would not purchase the new Extra Large cup. So, the fact proves that the change is a terrible decision again.

The change already made for several days, I doubt that how many Canadians would actually purchase the 24 oz cup!  Will you buy the amazing 710 ml extre lager coffee?
