English 301 is a fully online course designed for students in various disciplines and students heading out Co-Op programs. This course involves the study of principles of written and online communications in general business and professional activities and practice in the preparation of abstracts, proposals, applications, reports, correspondence, and online communications such as emails, texts, Web Folio, and networking. This course provides four units, and in each unit, students will be expected to produce and practice the writing strategies to address the learning goal in their assignment.

<Course Expectation>

First of all, I would like to improve my structural wiring skills. My weakness is to put my thought together and find a solid link. It often takes me a while to pick the sentence to start with and the following. This is because I over-think, which causes getting off the topic and vague the main point of my writing. I expect that practicing the strategies on the lecture and peer reviews will be an excellent opportunity to build up my weak point.
Second of all, I want to learn how to address a clear voice and present a professional manner in proper situations. There are different writing styles dependent on the situations such as email, formal report, and documentation. I would like to gain how to convey the purpose of communication in an appropriate voice by examining the rhetorical genre of technical communication.

Finally, I would like to be geared up before heading out of my first Co-op program. Through the course, I would like to build a strong resume and cover letter. Designing and writing a full job application package through the resources provided in this course will boost my confidence before applying to an internship.
