Hello,<\/p>\n

My name is Jieun Kim. I am a 3rd-year Computer Science (BCS) student with a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. I have work experience in developing pre-silicon design verification in Korea. After working a few years in this field, I had a middle-life crisis a bit earlier than others. Since it was my first ever job, I lacked the confidence to pursue this job for my life career and wondered what I would be capable of. Being afraid of remaining in my comfort zone, I decided to explore my studies beyond engineering by leaving the job in search of my interests and aptitude. I traveled, met people who expanded my understanding of the humanities. I experienced what I would never have learned if I had remained in the same position. And I happened to settle down in Vancouver.<\/p>\n

Above all, further distancing from science reawakened my passion for it. I felt most fulfilled when sharing my expertise in the sciences, and I had a hunger for a challenging and innovative environment. I realized that I longed to return to engineering fields where I was thoroughly delighted with the full joy of exploratory processes. Consequently, I started studying Computer Science last year.<\/p>\n

There has been a lot of changes in my life for the last few years. I switched my career, immigrated to Canada, and pursuing a second major in UBC. Studying Computer Science is one of the most challenging tasks among the changes. However, it is rewarding and fulfills my sense of accomplishment. I would like to build computer science knowledge, and hopefully, it would eventually enable me to devise ingenious algorithms to the intricate process design verification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
