Hello, and Welcome to my e-Portfolio Page!

My name is Jillian Tan and I am a recent graduate from a four year degree program in Dental Hygiene at the University of British Columbia. If I had to describe myself in a sentence: I am an enthusiastic 20-year-old who enjoys spending time and socializing with others, loves her friends, family, and puppies, and (very importantly) loves eating!

However, dental hygiene is quickly becoming an integral part of how I would describe myself. I have always been drawn to health sciences, and have always enjoyed and appreciated opportunities to work with people. I feel that my past experiences volunteering abroad in Slovakia, in rural areas in my own province, as well as locally in my own community, also influenced my decision to choose a career that helps to improve the lives of people.

As a dental hygiene student I have not only gained the knowledge and skills needed to have a successful career, but I have also gained experience and abilities that have helped me to be a critical thinker, improved my communication and collaboration with others, and has influenced me to take on leadership roles.

This e-Portfolio is a collection of my reflections, experiences, and goals I have for myself as a dental hygienist.
