Emissions standards have been set for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/otaq\/carlabel\/index.htm\">automotive<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/leed\">construction<\/a>, and even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greentouch.org\/\">telecommunications<\/a> industries. Yet the internet\u2019s carbon footprint is growing out of control: a whopping <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2013\/01\/130102140452.htm\">830 million tons of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/a> annually, which is bigger than that of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atag.org\/facts-and-figures.html\">entire aviation industry<\/a>.
