Hello everyone, welcome to our site! My name is Jessica R and I am in my fifth year at UBC and I will be graduating this May with an English Language Degree. I’ve just been admitted into the UBC Education Program so I will be continuing my studies here in September. I am interested in our research question because up until this course I’ve been naive to think that all Aboriginals have the same creation story because of my Christian background. I look forward to expanding my knowledge with the rest of my profound group and looking into new creation stories.
Hey guys, glad you landed on our site! I’m Jessica Pellegrino and I am 3rd year student at UBC. I have one year left to finish my BA in English lit and then, like Jess R, I plan to apply for the BEd program at UBC. Fingers are crossed I get accepted. This research question definitely strikes me as something I wanted to take on because I feel like it will give me a better understanding of Aboriginal culture and life. Seeing as they were the first people’s here in Canada, I feel that it is imperative to know what views they held and how different perspectives came from different groups. I hope you guys enjoy our site as much as we’ve enjoyed coming up with all of this!
Greetings Reader! Welcome to our conference site where we hope you will engage with us on our thoughts regarding different creation stories and their importance! I’m Susie Carter, a 4th year English Lit Major who, all going according to plan, will be in Chan Hall on May 20th graduating from the amazing UBC. When I sat down with these girls to discuss potential research questions, we were all struck by how the importance of a culture’s respective creation narrative, and how little people seem to know about them. I am really excited to delve into this topic and explore the different stories about the creation of this beautiful earth which we are so lucky to call home! We are so privileged to live in a country that has a range of creation narratives and I think it is time to let some more be shared! I hope you enjoy!
Hi there! I’m Tarana Rana, an English Lit Major in my fifth and final year at UBC. Welcome to our conference! Like the others here, I am fascinated by the power of creation stories and am excited to get a chance to familiarize myself with some new ones. Creation stories tell us how the world was created and are full of insights into a community’s traditions and worldviews – a great starting point for learning more about the First Peoples in Canada.
