- map projection is a set of transformations to make the 3D Earth into a 2D map. The transformations, however, distort the map of the Earth into unequal sizes. There are many different map projections, with ones showing close to the true size of the countries/continents and others which are father off. We use them because they can tell us how to get from one place to another by preserving shape and angles, so a 90-degree turn is a 90-degree turn in real life.

- Belief perseverance is having an idea and sticking with it even though evidence proves your idea wrong. It inhibit the development of European medicine because it allowed people to stick with their beliefs and not allow the science that contradicts their beliefs to take over. Medicine was proved not necessary because people believed that the body can heal itself. One example of belief perseverance is a person not believing that smoking can cause cancer when studies have shown time and time again that smoking can lead to cancer.
- Georeferencing is the process where scanned maps are used and adding geographic information to the maps so that GIS or mapping software can put the image in its real-world location. The process is done by selecting points in the scanned map and assigning them geographical locations.

- The mean center identifies the geographic center for a set of points so you can identify the center of the your set of points. The directional distribution creates a ellipse around the mean center to show the directional trends.
- The Kernel Density allows you to see the magnitude per unit area which then you can see how many death occurred closer to the well than farther away. The magnitude allows us to see how many death occurred in one area rather than the geographical center and a ellipse around that center. The brighter the color means more death, so closer to the brighter colors equals the source of cholera outbreak.
