About Me

elfinEarly On

I grew up in a small town in Ontario called Fenelon Falls. Growing up, I knew I wanted to have the opportunity to get out of Ontario and explore while learning, which is part of the reason I am here today. As a younger student, I fell in love with physical activity and sport. I played everything from soccer, track and field, baseball and football, and was always on the go. I continued to play everything I could until Grade 11, when I decided I would focus on playing football in University.

University

After high school I attended Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario where I received my Bachelor of Business Administration in Brand Communication while playing football for 3 years. This was an unbelievable experience for me, as it pushed my limits and ability to work under stress. It also gave me the opportunity to learn so much about a subject that we are all surrounded by each and every day, business.

Now

When I was finishing my last year at Laurier, I was fortunate enough to begin working for a great tech start-up company, Dandy. My experience in this setting was invaluable as I was part of a small team, and wore so many different hats during this time. Afterwards, I joined another small tech company based out of Toronto called Maegan, where I worked as a marketing specialist. Here I was lucky to be a part of an excellent team marketing a multi-platform mobile app for restaurants. While these were great experiences for me, I decided I needed to shake the dust and change scenery, which is how I ended up at UBC, as a new teacher! I look forward to combining my love for teaching with my knowledge and experience in the business world, especially with start-up companies and new technology.
