Apple: An Entrepreneurial Company

Posted by in Uncategorized

After reviewing what it means to be an entrepreneurial business, there is one company that comes to mind that has made a huge impact on the computer and electronics industry. The company I am referring to, is Apple Inc. Founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, Apple Inc. grew very quickly after its start-up, and possesses many other qualities of an entrepreneurial company.

Perhaps the most prominent entrepreneurial characteristic that Apple is known for is its use of innovation. Apple put its own spin on the personal computer with the Macintosh, and revolutionized the mp3 player. It also continues to develop new products such as the iPhone and iPad, creating new demand in the electronics market.

Apple Inc. can also be considered entrepreneurial – and definitely not a small business – because of the amount of wealth it has generated (which is in the billions of dollars), and its level of risk. Starting any computer business, there is a high financial risk, and Apple was no exception. The risk paid off, however, as Apple is currently one of the most successful companies in the world, able to compete strongly within the electronics industry.
