Hi! I am a book-loving, too-much-coffee-drinking, Shakespeare-obsessed English Teacher Candidate at UBC. I have a theatre background with a Diploma in Dramatic arts from Rosebud School of the Arts (a really tiny, hands-on theatre school in small town Alberta) and my Bachelor of Arts from SFU. I LOVE studying children’s literature (I plan on doing my masters in it one day) and investigating gender roles in children’s fantasy novels. My favorite book is Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief and my favorite Shakespeare play is Macbeth.
I know it sounds very idealistic but I want to be a teacher to share my love with literature with the next generation. I want to become a teacher because I am passionate about helping students learn to help themselves because I believe every student who walks through our classroom doors has the poetential to be wonderous and kind human beings. Experience has taught me that there is nothing more rewarding than helping young people realize and maximize their full potential.
And now that I’ve blathered on about myself for too long, I leave you with the wise words of Walt Whitman.

It’s pretty sad when I have to find old blogs to see what you’re up to!! Seriously, I’d love to hear more about what you’re up to! Where are you teaching and what age group? Your mom would be so proud of what her girls have accomplished in life. I certainly agree with your reason re: teaching literature. I’ve always loved it. Reading is my passion. Love from Auntie Margaret
