FAIL HARDER
The woes of an injured wrist.
I injured my wrist last week and haven’t been able to do anything strenuous with it. Upon seeing a doctor he recommended x-rays, yet the x-rays revealed nothing. He’s calling it a sprain for the moment and recommending one to two months of recovery. He told me not to do anything that causes it pain, and of course that means lifting as well. I had hoped to achieve 225 squat, 275 deadlift, 135 bench, and 85 overhead press by the end of the year, but it seems my hope was in vain now. The chagrin I feel when failing a rep pales in comparison to not being able to workout. The infamous 3000 calorie diet has hit the hay and been replaced by a meager… I don’t even count anymore but I estimate it’s around 1800. Alas, joy presents itself in the form of motivational youtube videos. FAIL HARDER.
Currently Reading:
Infinite Jest – David Foster Wallace
-incredible book, one of the best I’ve ever read (even though I’m not halfway through), extremely difficult to comprehend with the incredible variety of language present. the first time I attempted to read this book, five months ago, I grew weary around page 200, hopefully my second attempt will prove less futile.
Update: I quit at page 252, will resume when I have more time.
David and Goliath – Malcom Gladwell
Update: Pretty good book, slight placebo effects, but interesting outlook overall. Would recommend.
Capital in the Twenty-First Century – Thomas Piketty
Update: Seems interesting, just no time to finish. I don’t think it’s worth finishing anyway, bleh, non-fiction.
summit
An all too familiar mist has taken hold of the city as I write, reminiscing about days gone yet yearning for the future. UBC, is this what I really want? All I know is that it’s too late to doubt my decision. The die has been cast.
