I believe in pushing students to improve themselves; I will constantly encourage them to do more, to try harder, and to think deeper. I will also be alongside them, pushing myself just as hard. My goal for myself is to be able to assist as many students as I humanly can. In order to do that, I need constantly improve my own teaching practices, and learn new ways of making learning interesting.

  • Technology/Social media
    • This is one area I need to work on the most. I am not the most technical advance person out there but I strongly believe that mastering technology inside a classroom will benefit me immensely.
    • Some resources I found that are useful
      1. Do a PowerPoint “Game Show Review”
      2. Use tweeter or social media format to complete an assignment
      3. Create a class blog or wiki
      4. Create podcast or short videos
      5. integrating animations or instructional games into the classroom

  • Organization
    • as I have mentioned before the organization is the key to success. While I did get better during my practicum, I found that there are times I still miss place things. So I thought about new ways to sort homework and tests. I would have students hand into labeled bins that indicate which class they are from. Also, it is better to have certain assignments marked in class instead of carrying all those paper home.

  • Nurturing my strength
    • I think my biggest strength is my ability to get students to believe in themselves. I like to inspire students and help to build themselves up. I will continue to work on this aspect myself, and I am holding to get my therapist degree in the near future. I think I am most well suited working with students who are struggling or have some sort of personal issues that is in need of a strong leadership.
    • My other strength is my ability to leave school stuff at school, and home stuff at home. I view each day as a clean slate, and it is very hard for me to build up resentment towards anyone.
    • I also have the ability to think and see multiple perspectives which allow me to view an event more in depth. I tend to analysis a lot, and find it really easy to see other people’s motives. It is really hard to for me not to see the perspective of others, which makes me a very easy person to reason with, as well as a very nonjudgemental person.

Humans are unique creatures that are born with different strength and abilities. It is imperative that every person discovers their own strength and foster it. Only then can we be best at applying ourselves. –Johnson 2015.

  • Develop better questions
    • In my practicum, I have used various probing questions to get my students think deeper. I think working towards coming up more of these questions will be beneficial. The students should be taught to use their own brains in order to arrive at an answer.
