My inquiry was on inquiry. I want to know why we should use inquiry-based learning,
Ever since the first day I came to this program I have been bombarded by the magical new BUZZ word “inquiry”. There was no escape from this word! One day I pondered to myself, what does inquiry-based learning mean?!?. I looked back to my high school days and wondered if I was taught through inquiry. To be fair, I was naturally more inquisitive than the average student when it comes to science. However in other subjects, I was not as interested in the course material as I did with science, and I am pretty sure I was not taught through inquiry. I thought to myself, what if I was taught through inquiry? Could it have changed my entire perspective? Would I be more interested in school?
Why is it significant? I feel it is significant because when I am told to do something, I like to know the ins and outs of it. I want to know why I am doing it, and how it can benefit others I want to do it properly so it can be an effective way to help students. At the end of the day, as a future educator, I want to benefit my student in any ways shape possible. In our program, I thought it was great that we learned some theoretical aspect of inquiry learning and I can see great potential. Nonetheless, I want to see inquiry-based teaching in practice in a high school setting. I want to see how it will affect our kids if we brought inquiry style teaching into an actually class. I think in the long practicum I can see some inquiry based learning take effect
