My friend Rodolfo Montero’s Blog post analyzes both Apple and Android. After reading it I would like to give my input. There is always a huge debate as to which of these two is better, specifically in their operating systems. Both have continuos innovation, but which is better?

Rodolfo claims that the IOS operating system has “either continuously been inferior in terms of hardware and software, or been late to incorporate useful features into their devices that other companies have”, and provides the example of the IPhone X having technology that had already come out for the Samsung Galaxy S8, which was released late April. The “new” facial recognition feature, isn’t necessarily new. But that doesn’t mean Samsung or Android is better!  A way to measure success is by popularity, Apple has been proven to be more successful at selling phones then Samsung. (First half of 2016 Samsung sold 11 million S8s and Apple sold 14 million iPhone 6s)

There is a very subjective part of being “better”. It is hard to define what that means. With Apple their is their image and brand that is bought with the phone, and with Android there are options for customization and affordability.

The most recent IPhone X can be compared to Samsung latest phone, the S8. Both phones have a 5.8-inch screen, a glass back, water resistance and wireless charging. The iPhone has a dual-lens camera while the S8’s is single lens. One has IOS and the other Android. But we can’t really compare the greatness of these softwares because of the hardware that uses them. Apple Vs. Android is more about what a consumer wants.

Let’s say there was a special device that could run either IOS or Android. The consumer could choose which he/she would prefer to use. I think in the end it very similar, it comes to tastes. And why do we like something? No one really truly understands. IOS is simple and “easy to use” while Android is open to customization and useful for people looking for all kinds of uses.

I own an Apple Iphone 6s and Rodolfo has a OnePlus 3t which runs on Android. We both are happy with our phones and use them all the time. Technology has come so far that he and I can communicate with thousands of ways on our separate devices even though we have different software and thats the most important part. In the end I honestly think which ever we start using is the one we are going to stick with. That’s the way it was for my friend and I and that’s the way it has been for thousands of others.
