Creating my web folio has been an interesting experience. Prior to this course, I have never designed my own website nor written a blog. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of designing and showcasing my skills, strengths and experience taking ENGL 301. Through the creation process, I spent a significant amount of time considering the design and layout of my web folio, the content and the audience.
During the beginning phases of designing my web folio I had a tough time getting to know how creating a site worked. The process of designing and laying out the content of my web folio was stressing at times as tabs would get lost and out of order. The main focus was my “Home” page, the theme and the background of my web folio. Since the “Home” page is the page where my audience would first visit, I wanted to have a welcoming feel with an interesting background and a hook message. Similarly, choosing the theme of my web folio is also important in that it must be professional, clean and easy to navigate for my audience. Through time I realized that creating a blog is time consuming at first, but after practicing, it becomes easy and fun. Overall, I learned that I must take my audience into consideration when designing my web folio with the correct imagery and establishing the tone and mood for what I wanted to deliver.
Through designing my web folio, I also had the opportunity to revise and edit my best works and my blogs. Using the techquines learned in the course I was able to learn more about my own writing style as well as to what the business world expects from professionals. Working on the peer reviewing process made me realize how important it is to make multiple edits and to have a second opinion on a paper. Overall, the process of creating my web folio was an enjoyable process. I had the opportunity to recognize my current writing skills, improve my previous assignments and create a web folio that can be used in the future for professional purposes to showcase myself.
