However, I found difficulty in formatting a formal report as I am used to formatting persuasive research papers. Research papers, specifically in the field of sociology, implement a theoretical aspect of the report. It took some time to adjust to a more objective approach to a report rather than a subjective, more opinionated approach I am comfortable using. Nevertheless, the reports types included similar organization and contents. Although the formatting between the two report types were different, I found that the commonality between the two report types make it easier to understand trends and ongoing issues in our current society.

The major concepts I learned from this assignment were the various ways of presenting data in research report. This assignment taught me how to use graphs and charts to better present data I obtained. This assignment also allowed me to create a survey and interview a number of respondents in ways I have never done before. However I found it challenging to filter in and only mention the important data trends from my survey into the report. It took a lot of editing and thinking to decide which results deemed effective in my report. At first my report was set to be over the page limit set, but overall, I was able to manage my survey results and filter out unnecessary information to the best of my ability.

The peer review process for this particular assignment had its positives and its negatives. I received great feedback regarding my formatting and organization of my report. I found the feedback from my fellow Wordsmith, Julian, to be very insightful and I plan to use all of their recommendations. I was however, too optimistic hoping to find more recommendations regarding the content of my report. As I mentioned earlier, I found it challenging to leave out some survey results as I believed that too much of my material was helpful in my argument. I was not able to get feedback regarding my content, but that is partly due to the fact that Julian and I had far different topics for our reports.

Below is my draft of my formal report.

ENGL 301 Justin Man Revised Formal Proposal doc Formal Report Draft docx

Dear Readers, Below are my reflections on the process of creating a formal report draft and peer-reviewing a formal report draft.
