ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Justin Wu. I’m a grade 5/6 teacher in the Burnaby School District. next year I will be teaching the Access Program at Alpha Secondary. I became interested in learning more about technology earlier this year when my students taught me how to code. I vowed to my students that as long as they are learning I will too, which is the reason why I started this MET program. I’m what you would call a novice, so anything and everything I learn in these courses are directly going into my teaching.I’m excited to integrate technology into the ADST curriculum, in addition to the woodworking and hands-on building activities that I am currently doing with my class. I’m passionate about working with children’s with disabilities and using technology to help them succeed in their everyday lives.

When my teacher cap is off, you can normally find  me at Edmonds Community Centre where I spend  most afternoons in the Youth Lounge hanging out  with children in the recreation setting. The Edmonds  community  is heavily populated with families who  have recently  migrated into Canada. I find joy in  playing basketball with the kids or just making a  hearty after school snack. When I finally do get a break from the children, I  come home to loving parents, a “not so little” little  brother, and my gorgeous girlfriend.

I absolutely love spending time adventuring all of the natural beauties that BC has to offer. In the winter you can find me on a frozen pond; in the summer you can find me by the lake. I’m an extremely active person who loves watching and playing sports, and is known to sometimes get slightly competitive (you can ask my students how PE went this year …). I cannot wait to see what this chapter in my educational journey has to offer. I’m ready!
