Kids of the Future…

Posted by in Uncategorized

This week was truly inspiring with the climate change movement carried out by the youth around the world. This whole movement started with a viral video presented by 15-year-old Greta Thunberg a climate activist speaking for the future generation. Her speech at the UN Climate Change COP24 Conference, address governments and organization saying they need to take action against climate change (Haynes, 2019). Declaring that if things do not change they would be robbing their generation and future generations of their future. Her inspirational words contributed to a worldwide movement on March 15th. In over 120 countries over 1.6 million students left school to protest and stand for climate change (Haynes, 2019).

This movement in kids at such a young age brings light and hope to the future of our world. In a way, children are being robbed of their future and are being passed down the burden. This should be a massive eye opener to major corporations. Their future consumers are a lot more concerned and educated about the current effects of climate change. As well as their future workforce, along with the importance of being sustainable, this new generation is a lot more concerned about companies that add value to them as well as the world. Companies with well aligned and implemented values will be a much more attractive organization to work for. Consumers are educating themselves a lot more about where they spend their money.

The shift for companies have more importance on sustainability is not only present in the industry, but also in their future market shares. Kids all over the world, including Africa and Southeast Asia, are standing for the cause. Unfortunately, it may be because they have seen the effects of climate change. Meaning that this wave of sustainability will be incorporated in all parts of the world as well as most generations. Dramatic changes are inevitably coming to all branches of our society. It is better to start adapting now before it’s too late.
