Applied Skills 8: Textiles and Foods
Textiles: Paper-Stitching Sample to prepare students for sewing onto real fabric
Foods: As one of their labs, students made sweet or savoury biscuit pinwheels.

Based on the short film My Shoes, students learned to distill a simple story to nine comic frames. Formative assessment towards their future project of creating their very own comic story.
Beginning with a written story, moving into creating their own storyboard, and then perfecting their final comic, students were scaffolded into creating their own unique comics based on the prompt: “Describe an important event in your life that changed your perspective on life or people” The results were impressive!
English 11: The Lord of the Flies
Students campaigned for their leader of choice from The Lord of the Flies by creating campaign posters. Students then anonymously voted for their favourite poster.
Students participated in an in-class debate about which group should reign on the island.
Students played the “Red-Green Game”, a prisoners’ dilemma-esque game which highlights the swift descent into savagery as emotions are heightened and the desire to win overpowers the desire to maintain peace.
