I always saw companies and businesses innovating to incorporate sustainability in their business plan. However, this article brought a different aspect forward, in terms of how a country can use its resources for the right purposes.

To summarise the article: The article talks about a new city made in Dubai known as “Dubai’s Sustainable City” where everything from water to electricity is generated through sustainable and clean practices. Additionally, all the houses in this community also have solar panels to generate energy for their day-to-day living needs as well as most of the facilities such as tracks and playgrounds are made with recycled tyres.

This article allowed me to reflect on the evolution of sustainability over the years, and how today not only businesses but also countries and cities can also work towards bringing a change. Additionally, this brings out the question of whether this can be achieved by government bodies as well or only by kingdoms. Often government bodies running the nation or country tend to have personal greed and corruption where they choose to fill their pockets, while in a kingdom the family has all the wealth and does not worry about personal gain.
Coming from a place like India where I know the rate of corruption and politics is really high, this results in people in power choosing personal gain over social or environmental welfare and that’s where individualistic behavior comes forwards.

I truly appreciate what Dubai has created, and I also feel like if other countries also follow similar practices and use their resources in a more impactful manner rather than their individualistic needs it will definitely help improve the world for a better tomorrow.

Please note that I do prefer a kingdom ruler over a democratic leadership however I am pointing out the differences between the individualistic and collective mindset.
