As we looked into web trends and multi device use amongst today’s consumers, it just so happens that with Christmas holidays coming around, consumers are looking for the ability to shop on their devices— specifically their phones.
Traditionally, sales on mobile apps have been low. But as Marketing Mag points out, this is attributable to retailers not investing in executing the digital experiences that consumers are looking for, rather than a lack of interest.
In class we talked about digital trends for e-commerce, and how some are hesitant to pay for things online because they don’t feel safe. That’s exactly what consumers want. If retailers are able to provide a safe place for transactions, consumers will be overjoyed— especially during crowded in-person shopping experiences.
But the main issue that sellers will have to overcome is the data that currently doesn’t show e-commerce being overwhelmingly popular amongst shoppers. They must first consider that these numbers are low because the electronic shopping experience just isn’t up to the standards that shoppers want.
We’ve still got some ways to go before an easily replicable, great online shopping platform is developed. But if implemented, I’m sure sales assistants and shoppers will be relieved come the holiday seasons.
