About Me

Hello!

My name is Karen Okoyomon, and I am a third year Interdisciplinary Studies and B+MM student at UBC. In my interdisciplinary studies degree, I study English as my primary area of study, and Visual Art as a secondary. I am interested the study of media, language, and people. In addition to that, I am passionate about digital art such as photography and animation. I want to use my degree to pursue something creative, but in a professional industry. And with the business side of my studies, I can explore that world as well. I believe this course will be the most helpful for not only my English and commerce classes that I will take throughout university, but also will useful post-graduation. After university I am hoping to work in an environment that is both creative and has elements of business, leaning towards careers in marketing and/or management. One of my ongoing goals throughout school and work life is to continuously improve my communication skills and learn techniques to help me become a better collaborator. Outside of academia, some of my favourite pastimes include hiking, cooking, and skateboarding! I am someone who loves to learn, and I think it is important to never stop growing.
