I’ve been practicing as a registered dental hygienist since 2017 and currently work part-time at an office that I adore in Ottawa, Ontario. I graduated the youngest of my class coming straight from high school and am the baby of my office; I take pride in knowing that I was able to get started early on in a profession that I love. I’m now completing my degree in dental hygiene through UBC, a goal I’ve had since my first year of dental hygiene school at Algonquin College, and am very humbled by the fact that I’m able to study while working to support myself.
When I am not at work or studying you can catch me spending time with my partner, our cat Biscuit, and ferrets Minnie and Rascal. I am most at peace when spending time outdoors and am always looking for an excuse to get outside! I much prefer the warmer months and spending the day on a body of water, but I also love to ski and skate.
Writing has always been a secret passion of mine; I feel as though writing isn’t my strongest suit and I’ve always shied away from sharing it with those around me. Growing up in a French community with an anglophone parent, most of my schooling was done in French but we mostly spoke English at home. I struggled to understand the vast differences in the languages and didn’t force myself to truly learn English grammar until later in high school. I hope that this E-portfolio forces me to not only work at improving my writing abilities, but also to become more confident in myself and in my work.
