The variety of his posts offer different perspectives relating to marketing; however the post that caught my eye was one about a Sesame Street commercial.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Sesame Street persona may initially evoke an era that has long died out, the video proves that Sesame Street is still culturally aware and on top of current trends.<\/p>\n<p>Cubbon\u2019s post, \u201cSesame Street meets Old Spice\u201d, examines Sesame Street\u2019s ability to reproduce a parody of the popular Old Spice commercials.<\/p>\n<p>[youtube]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zkd5dJIVjgM[\/youtube]<\/p>\n<p>As Cubbon notes in his blog, Sesame did the video \u201cjust right\u201d, avoiding any innuendos that are too sexual or too adult. Sesame Street and Old Spice have both successfully expanded to an audience beyond their target market. \u00a0The Old Spice commercials have attracted more than just their male-dominated target market by creating humorous commercials that people want to watch repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/kastle\/files\/2011\/01\/old-spice.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-67\" title=\"old-spice\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/kastle\/files\/2011\/01\/old-spice-300x164.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/kastle\/files\/2011\/01\/old-spice-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/kastle\/files\/2011\/01\/old-spice.png 632w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, as Cubbon explains, Sesame Street has entertained their Preschooler market with Grover and tapped into the adult mind by parodying the ever-popular Old Spice commercial.<\/p>\n<p>These ideas relate to similar concepts discussed in class pertaining to target markets and audiences. As we have examined, the \u201cBaby Carrot\u201d campaign had multiple types of packaging which was geared towards a variety of markets.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, Cubbon\u2019s discussion on the Sesame Street viral video proves that the ability to differentiate your marketing to attract different groups is an important factor in contemporary marketing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Having read through numerous marketing blogs to find something that truly caught my attention, I stumbled upon Paul Cubbon\u2019s Blog.
