OUR TEAM:
Katlyn Trainor:
My mountain biking experience started from an early age, competing on the national circuit into my late teens and eventually touring throughout North America competing. Upon graduating highschool and training for 2 years to compete at the elite level, I then returned to school in 2006 to get my Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics at UBC Okanagan where I met my work partner and Pedal to the Metal co-founder Taanie Luies. My interest in personal training and lifestyle coaching was fostered in my educational environment, which is where I discovered my passion for coaching others to better their mind and body. I was able to obtain my CSEP-CPT certification in my fourth of of studying, and have trained hundreds of clients of all fitness levels in a variety of sports, with my specialization being in mountain biking.
Apart from working and mountain biking myself, my interests include cooking and swimming. I plan to return to school to get a Masters in nutrition. I am driven to help you dedicate your time and focus into the goals you set for yourself, and I believe anyone is capable of anything if you set your mind to it!
Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics, UBC Okanangan, specialized in nutrition
-CSEP-CPT certified
-Ex-member of Canadian National team
-Ex RedBull athlete
Taania Luies:
I started my “fitness lifestyle” when I obtained my CSEP-CPT (Personal training certificate) in 2007. I was a personal trainer for just over a year when I decided to study Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna. That is where I developed my passion for mountain biking. I did several local mountain biking races and in 2009 I completed the Cure for Cancer race and BC Bike race. Through the university and experience, I have received access to a network of health and wellness professionals.
Besides my dedication to being the most qualified and experienced personal trainer I can be, I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their fitness goals and enjoy the thrilling sport of mountain biking while achieving success.
My qualifications include:
- University of British Columbia Human Kinetics Degree
- CPR and First Aid course
- CFES group fitness instructor
- CSEP-CPT
