Blog Post #11 – Do We Need Social Enterprise?

Yes. Yes We Do. Although the United Nations works painstakingly to improve living conditions for individuals in many areas around the globe but the amount of people in need of aid is far large for the UN to provide consistent and sufficient aid to. Moreover often aid can bee somewhat of a “Band Aid” solution — Fixing the problem in the short term but not handling it in the long term.

The truth of the reality is that we need more support and guidance to sustain improvement and development. The UN can’t sufficiently aid all impoverished areas in society as there are far too many for an effective job to be done.The whole world must be aided not  I believe Micro-Loans and finance are one of the premier methods of social entrepreneurship available. Not only do they reduce the possibility of loan sharks but in many cases they allow entrepreneurs to provide sustainable income for some period of time.

The sauder arc initiative is a prime example of a program to promote social enterprise and support its growth in areas of need. I believe it provides young entrepreneurs an opportunity to hone their skills and develop business tools to initiate and then possibly maintain businesses. Knowledge is power and this exchange through the arc initiative creates a unique exchange of knowledge.
