Telus plans to invest $1 billion in BC on New Fibre-Optic Internet

Returning CEO Darren Entwistle is making long term plans to implement a new Fibre-Optic internet connection throughout Vancouver. This will replace the old copper-wire connections to deliver speeds of up to 150 Megabytes per second. This is part of a larger business plan to invest over “$4 billion in BC by 2018”.

This is a huge risk by Entwistle, and if it pays off it will really place Telus in a strong position against its competitors.

Investment is an encouraging sight, considering Canada’s current economy and multiple job cuts in many large industries. Job cuts in Faskens Martineau, the Canadian law firm and almost 1500 jobs by Respol due to declining oil prices is just to name a few.
